The Opportunity:

Nigel Wright have been appointed to support a key repeat client in the B2B service sector with the recruitment of a UK Business Development Manger to join their successful and growing team. The individual can be based anywhere in the UK as the role will be home / field based, with periodic reporting to the two UK offices (one Northern and one Southern)

The Role:
  • Proactive prospecting and reactive tendering for new business with large B2B customers.
  • Managing lengthy sale cycles and working closely with the bid team to deliver winning tenders for new business.
  • Developing new business leads and utilising strategies to engage prospective customers from key market sectors.
  • Managing the internal communication and briefing process across relevant internal functions following successful bids.
  • Negotiating with customers on pricing and contractual clauses and agreements.
  • Utilising the CRM system to record customer information / dialogue and to manage pipeline effectively.
  • Reporting pipeline and sales forecasts upline accurately and in line with agreed timescales.

Person Spec:

Essential Criteria:
  • Experience of B2B sales, ideally in a new business hunting environment.
  • Strong Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills.
  • Strong customer relationship , sales cycle and pipeline management skills.
  • Experience of negotiating and influencing during sale cycles.
  • Experience of utilising CRM systems.


Desirable Criteria:
  • Experience of remote working.
  • Experience of winning £500K+ B2B contracts.
  • Experience in delivering B2B sales pitches via PowerPoint to decision making panels.
  • Educated to degree level (preferred, but qualified by experience will also be considered)
