Insolvency Solicitor - Associate 4-8 Year PQE - Cardiff

My client are a growing, progressive and forward-thinking law firm where exceptional technical ability is a given but we also understand that this, combined with the personality and creativity of our staff, is at the very heart of our successful business.

They are recognised market experts in a number of areas of law, including legal services provided to the asset-based lending industry, commercial litigation, corporate restructuring and insolvency, shareholder disputes/corporate governance, director disqualification and tax disputes.

A majority of their clients are Insolvency Practitioners, independent asset-based lenders, challenger banks, fin-tech businesses, high wealth Directors and SME companies throughout the UK, to whom we provide corporate, commercial and litigation services. We regularly deal with complex proceedings in the higher courts and have several matters in the Court of Appeal.

The legal services are offered from their main London and our recently established Cardiff office, the latter of which covers Wales and the South West.

An opportunity for an experienced insolvency solicitor to join their Cardiff team dealing with contentious and non-contentious insolvency matters sourced both locally and in support of their London office and insolvency team.

Whilst this role will be mainly based in Cardiff, the legal work will be sourced mainly from the London office and is therefore likely to be of a more substantial and more complex nature than would otherwise be available in the local business sector.

In addition, they would expect the fee earner joining them to have some following and/or be capable of growing a relationship locally with Insolvency Practitioners in South Wales, Bristol and the peripheral areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious solicitor looking for the next step to gain access to more sizeable client base and build their profile in Cardiff/Bristol with the support of a London law firm. This role would particularly suit an individual based in South Wales who wishes to avoid the daily commute to Bristol, whilst continuing to support and grow their profile and the quality and size of their work.

The fee earner would be expected to support the growth of the Cardiff office and manage a junior lawyer.

Specific Experience:

The successful candidate will ideally have a background of insolvency experience and/or we would be particularly keen to hear from anyone with experience of:
  • Oversee administration appointments (both in court and out of court appointments).
  • Preparing business and asset sale and purchase agreements out of Administration.
  • All aspects of personal insolvency.
  • Dealing with, or litigation involving, the Insolvency Service/Official Receiver (investigations or public interest); or
  • Tax tribunal/litigation proceedings; or
  • Corporate/shareholder disputes

Of primary importance will be a confident self-starter who requires minimal supervision and who has the technical ability to support their London insolvency team, yet whom is also keen to actively network locally to promote the firm and their own career.

Ideal candidate should also:
  • Have excellent commercial and drafting skills, with proven experience in non-contentious insolvency and/or commercial fields.
  • Be keen to develop themselves in a unique environment where access to institutional/professional/high wealth clients is readily available.
  • Be prepared to support and grow the firm in Cardiff, by way of networking and the use of current contacts.
  • Be able to show good commercial judgment.
  • Be able to work in a busy team and support other fee earners as required, albeit remotely from the Cardiff office servicing clients which may have been sourced by or based in London
  • Be technologically competent and have experience of CRM and case management systems - particularly Visual Files.
  • Have excellent management and leadership skills.

The role will also include:
  • Contributing to the firm's web based and social media offerings including LinkedIn, Twitter, blog sites, and Google.
  • Attend client meetings and functions to market the firm and develop new and existing client relationships.
  • Dealing directly with new enquiries generated through the web and using the firm's CRM system to bring in new clients / work.
  • Regularly attending the London office to support other members of the insolvency team.

Emphasis is placed on candidates who are energetic and enthusiastic with the subject matter and are keen to learn and expand their knowledge of these areas, as well as becoming involved in promoting the firm locally, including Cardiff, South Wales and Bristol and nearby regions.

For a confidential discussion on this role please contact Daniel Mason at our head offices.
