We are currently working with a leading UK Education Software provider with over 400 people UK wide and a solution used by over 80% of the market. Their technology is here to improve decision making, simply communication and raise standards in everything the education sector does. The wider group is one of the largest employers in the UK selling tech solutions in to a broad range of industries and market as well as providing professional services alongside this. They are looking for individuals with a proven track record of field sales delivery to help grow our market share. Their uncapped earnings and generous basic salary reflects our commitment to recruiting a winning team.

You will be responsible for new business acquisition. Working closely with marketing the team is responsible for identifying opportunities, developing pipeline, closing and maximising sales to meet defined sales targets. You will work from home when not visiting clients given full autonomy to manage your time and business how you want. The target will be an annual revenue target and sales cycles can last 3 - 6 months with an AOV of around £50k.

Ideally you will have a background in Field Sales / Business Development with a software, technology or professional services business. Any experience of selling in to the public sector would be of benefit however not essential. Most importantly a driven, professional and new business attitude is essential with the ability to work autonomously.

Responsibilities: Business Development Manager
  • Field role responsible for meeting monthly/annual sales targets.
  • Develop a territory plan that demonstrates a clear strategy on how the sales target will be achieved
  • Responsible for managing own database and making outbound calls with the objective of selling and promoting the company solutions
  • Developing a credible pipeline that is three/four times territory target
  • Achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) as set out by your line manager
  • Manage your Territory to maximize revenue from the customers within your region.
  • To plan effectively and to have a clear view of expected sales outcomes.
  • Proactively seek out and close new leads and meetings within the allocated territory
  • Develop a deep understanding of competitors
  • Build relationships with all the portfolio to understand the challenges they have
  • Lead generation is key to this role with the highest performers achieving both high sales and appointment statistics

Skills Required: Business Development Manager
  • Minimum 3-5 years proven successful field sales experience, ideally in sales of value-added IT solutions
  • Proven sales territory planning skills and experience
  • Proven track record of generating leads and hitting targets set
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to build strong customer relationships
  • Exceptional negotiation skills
  • Excellent time management, planning and organisational skills
  • Team player
  • Confidence in the use of IT for business purposes
