What you'll be doing

Taking responsibility for scrum teams working on a portfolio of applications, your role will be to manage and develop the teams, ensure productivity and ensure the stability of the services that the applications provide to business users.

We are looking for a proactive individual who thrives on working in a challenging and fast paced environment. Your role will be centrally placed between the business and Senior IT Management and you will play a key role in ensuring quality at every stage of the application lifecycle.

Key Accountabilities:

Working with the Product Owner in order to:

· Find techniques for effective Product Backlog management;

· Help the Scrum Team understand the need for clear and concise Product Backlog items;

· Ensure the Product Owner knows how to arrange the Product Backlog to maximize value;

· Understand and practice agility; and,

Working with the scrum team in order to:

· Coach the Development Team in self-organization and cross-functionality;

· Help the Development Team to create high-value products;

· Remove impediments to the Development Team's progress;

· Facilitate Scrum events as requested or needed; and,

· Coach the Development Team in organizational environments in which Scrum is not yet fully adopted and understood.

Working with Senior Management in order to:

  • Proactively shape the service plan for your applications working in close collaboration with the Service Delivery Managers.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning of your application or suite of applications from their first operational use through to decommissioning.
  • Management of your application or suite of applications through every stage of its lifecycle.
  • Define the scope of each release ensuring there is the correct balance of new functionality vs stability enhancements and manage the expectations of the application owner.
  • To ensure every lifecycle stage within a release meets the agreed quality standards
  • Define and maintain roadmaps for all of your applications from first use through to decommissioning.


What we're looking for

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of:

  • Successful release implementation in an application development environment.
  • Transitioning applications into operations.
  • Software development and usability design.
  • The full application life cycle, with a working knowledge of each of the relevant stages
  • Effective risk & issue management
  • Conveying technical information to a non-technical audience reaching the desired outcome/understanding for both.
  • Coaching the Development Team in self-organization and cross-functionality.
  • Coaching the Development Team in organizational environments in which Scrum is not yet fully adopted and understood.
  • Management of IT & Cloud infrastructure, operating systems, databases, Disaster Recovery etc.
  • Agile meetings/ceremonies (daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint review and retrospective).
  • Coaching Agile practices.
  • Tight grip on Agile estimating, forecasting and planning.
  • Creating and maintaining communication channels (across the team, Product owner, stakeholder).
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Test Management.
  • Understanding of Change and Release Management.
