Cambridge Assessment have an exciting opportunity for a SAP FICO Specialist to join our experienced and expert team within the SAP Centre of Excellence.

We are looking for an experienced SAP FICO Specialist who can hit the ground running and contribute to the smooth and efficient running of financial processes, by delivering, maintaining, troubleshooting and enhancing the SAP functionality.

This is a unique opportunity for a FICO Specialist to retain hands-on configuration skills and engage with colleagues across all levels of the organisation.

What you'll be doing

  • As a key and integral part of the SAP team you will participate in business requirements gathering and solution design workshops to identify and drive forward business and system process improvements
  • Perform hands-on configuration changes within the SAP Finance and Controlling modules to deliver change requests and improvement initiatives
  • Create and maintain documentation including functional specifications, test cases, knowledge transfer and business process flows
  • Coordinate changes through to production, ensuring the delivery and maintenance of design and change management documentation
  • Understand dependencies and integration points between modules of SAP and other systems within the IT landscape
  • Consult with senior stakeholders to evaluate and analyse requirements
  • Engage with various business and technical teams to ensure the integrity, future design and quality of the SAP solution and its interfaces
  • Perform break/fix analysis and recommend solutions
  • Work with the support team to facilitate incident & problem resolution
  • Ensure the Service/Incident Management System is accurate and complete
  • Provide ad-hoc support for regression testing, system refresh, patching and upgrades
  • Proactively contribute to improving internal IT processes and the continued success of the IT organisation

What we're looking for


  • Finance degree, professional accounting qualification or equivalent


  • Extensive configuration, support and business process knowledge in New GL, Assets, AP, AR, FSCM, Cash & Bank, Projects, Profit and Cost Centre accounting, COPA
  • Solid understanding of integration points between SD, MM, SRM and BW
  • Understanding of integration technologies, interfaces and other technical areas (user exits, ABAP, forms, LSMW, PI, EDI)
  • Strong understanding of financial and cost accounting principles
  • Strong IT skills with excellent analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Able to bridge the gap between technical and business concepts using a range of styles, tools and techniques
  • Able to make solid and reliable recommendations in complex environment
  • Be a team player, but also able to self-motivate and work independently
  • Able to operate, lead and influence in a matrix organisation
  • Customer focussed with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to build positive, collaborative and rewarding relationships at all levels of the organisation


  • Knowledge of BPC-EPM planning
  • SAP 4/HANA insight


  • Extensive hands-on configuration experience in FICO functional role (5+ years)
  • Exposure to software lifecycle approaches, such as Agile and Waterfall
  • Experience of at least two full lifecycle SAP implementations
  • Experience of delivering successful change and process improvement initiatives
  • Experience of working together with 3rd party suppliers and in diverse teams
  • Additional experience within finance role desirable
