Payroll Coordinator job based in Bradford. Up to £35000 per year + benefits.

Hays are excited to be partnering with a global institution in their search for a new Payroll Coordinator. Your new role
You will be responsible for the payroll accounting facility and the accurate and timely processing of all payroll credit transfers for approximately 500 employees. You will work alongside our Global Payroll Coordinator and outsourced partners to ensure that payroll governance and approvals are adhered to. You'll also be responsible for testing and authorisation prior to implementation of all payroll & reward related software changes.

What you'll need to succeed
This will be a fast paced and wide ranging role that will require flexibility in the successful candidate and adaptability as no two days will be the same. You will have;

  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of payroll processes and procedures, particularly those relating to the BACS process and company pension schemes
  • Detailed and practical knowledge of statutory legislation pertinent to Income Tax (PAYE), National Insurance, SSP, SMP, SPP and SAP and Salary sacrifice, Benefits in Kind and Attachment of Earning Orders
  • A good understanding of external Payroll/Shared Services developments and emerging best practice - ideally some working knowledge of Global Payrolls would be great!
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles
  • Experience of providing detailed and timely pay and management information advice
  • Proven experience of managing complex, high volume pay processes in an efficient and effective manner
  • Knowledge of the company pension schemes
  • Understanding of interfaces between payroll and finance and pensions
  • In depth knowledge of payroll processing including month end and year end activities
  • Good working knowledge of process improvement methodologies/Six Sigma
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles
  • Able to fully utilise standard Microsoft Office products and the application of Oracle and workflow/case management, with MS Excel to intermediate level
  • A high degree of inter-personal skills is essential, in an environment where conflicting priorities can result in delays and failures, to ensure that deadlines aren't missed.
