This is an opportunity to join Backlogs - an exciting growing business within HCA Labs that provides diagnostic services to NHS organisations. Backlogs was founded in St Ives, Cambridgeshire in 2005 as a provider of remote pathology reporting service to NHS Trusts. Backlogs continues to grow to meet the client's needs, and pride itself on its can-do attitude.

Currently we are expanding the team and looking to recruit to help manage our development and join our friendly office environment in St. Ives, Cambridge.

Job Description

The Clinical Admin Assistant will carry out general administration activities to support the company to deliver a high quality service, working closely with the administration team, clients and clinicians. They will ensure that slides are processed and reports delivered within the agreed timescales.

Hours: 30 hours/ week (Monday - Friday)

Salary: £18,500 pro rata

Please note, this role is based in St Ives, Cambridgeshire

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Liaise over the phone, email or in-person with clinicians, pathologists, clients and staff to deal with their enquiries and resolve issues
  • Answer telephone enquiries, referring where appropriate
  • Update and maintain information for the running of department/unit, including trackers and databases. Deal with records / client accounts
  • Working with the Backlogs administration team to chase invoices and payments
  • Receive request forms and slides, and upload and update case records accordingly, including entering medical information onto the computer system
  • Ensure efficient turnaround of all cases including identifying, preparing, packaging and despatching samples
  • Other general office duties, and responding to issues as they arise


Skills & Experience
  • Experience admin experience is essential
  • Previous experience in a healthcare environment is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer literate
