UKAEA requires a Management Accountant / Finance Partner to support the Head or Property (HoP), providing planning and analysis, accounting, and reporting to inform decision making and drive financial performance.

Whether providing financial input into a new business case or closing the monthly accounts, accuracy, timeliness, collaboration and understanding of performance is essential. This is an important role and the post holder will quickly develop a detailed understanding of all aspects of UKAEA Property.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

- Preparation and analysis of month end accounts
- Support the business budgeting and forecast processes
- Manage the programme accounting for all construction projects
- Maintain and implement improvements to the Finance Property Model

The UKAEA hosts and manages the JET nuclear fusion energy experiment on behalf of the EU and is also home to the UK`s MAST-U fusion energy experiment. UKAEA also works with industry and other third parties to develop new technologies currently in Remote Handling and Materials research. Following recent UK funding two new centres of excellence in tritium fuel handling and component testing and validation are being built. Knowledge skills and experience

- Qualified or working towards a relevant professional accounting qualification with demonstrable experience;

- Experience of project costing and forecasting

- Experience of working closely with business teams in a "business partner" capacity

- Highly proficient in Excel

- To understand the principles of revenue recognition

- To have an appreciation of multi-funding control requirements

- To have experience of an ERP accounting system [Unit 4 (Agresso) would be an advantage]

- Able to work on occasion to challenging timescales while still ensuring accuracy

- Team player

Selection Methods:

- Interviews will be held on 23rd or 24th September 2019.

- As part of the selection process you may be expected to complete work based simulation exercises and a personality profile either online or onsite.
