Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. We provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia. 

Position: Day Support Worker 
Location: Sheffield 
Contract type: Part Time, Permanent 
Hours: 14 per week 
Salary: £6,552 to £6,684 depending on skills and experience

About the role: 

In Sheffield, we provide a wide range of support for people affected by dementia and their carers. This includes a dementia support team, dementia cafes, peer support and activity groups. 

In addition, we have specific services for younger people who are diagnosed with dementia before the age of 65. 

About you: 

We are looking for individuals to work in our Younger Persons’ Day Care service, as part of our team of experienced staff to provide excellent care to our service users. You should ideally have knowledge and experience of dementia gained in a care setting, or through personal experience. 

You will possess NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) or demonstrable experience. 

As a Day Support worker, you will need to be able to communicate with and support service users in a person-centred way, ensuring that their needs are met throughout the day. This will involve initiating and taking part in group and one to one activities, both within the centre and in the community. 

You will need to have a positive approach, be a good team player and be able to use your own initiative when needed. 

You will receive a full induction and training to enable you to fulfil your role.
