About the role: 

As part of a new organisational structure, the company has invested in centres of excellence to deliver its strategic programme, which includes becoming more customer centric in developing great convenience stores. Our newly created Retail Proposition team will enable us to speed up the level of innovation, particularly within store formats and fresh food solutions, as we look to focus on store clusters through understanding customer types and missions to effectively utilise our space, price and range across the retail and independent estate. 

We are looking for a Proposition Strategy Controller who will lead and implement strategies for customer missions that incorporate category, product, price and promotion requirements by store cluster to generate commercial benefit from optimising the return on investment. 

Responsibilities: 

- Lead and develop assortment strategy (range requirements) for customer mission by store cluster and brief traders to complete range recommendations. 
- Maximise sales, cash margin and percentage gross profit for Blakemore Retail stores in conjunction with Trading team. 
- Lead, develop and implement promotional and seasonal strategy for customer mission by store cluster and brief Selling Plan Coordinator to support current PMI promotional planning process. 
- Support the development and implementation of the price strategy by mission, by store cluster, by Price Zone. 
- Lead Category review process via PMI VMS process management that includes maintaining and updating the trader briefing process. 
- Agree and maintain Article Hierarchy, category role and article (product) strategies with support of the Category Space Manager and, the price and promotions team. 
- Ensure all departmental administrative systems and procedures are implemented in relation to Assortment Management. 
- Interpreting appropriate market research activity, and recommending actions for proposition strategy. 
- Govern & Measure proms to ensure strategy by cluster is effective with support of price and promotions team. 
- Interface with SPAR UK on Assortment and Promotional Strategy and Engage with SPAR central office processes, e.g. Gatekeeper, SPAR Brand development to ensure central activity supports retail proposition requirements. 
- Review Pricing Index (RSP and WSP) compared to benchmark for relevant missions. 
- Support business requirements such as SRS, Conferences. 
- Develop BI solutions to support delivery of proposition strategy. 
- Ensure all marketing needs to support proposition implementation are delivered. 
- Support Macro Space Controller and Innovation development. 

About you: 

- Commercial background either Customer Trade Manager, Category Management, Account Management, Buying or Merchandising. 
- Understanding of Insight and Customer Shopping Missions. 
- Category knowledge and understanding. 
- Working cross functionally and influencing at a high level across a business. 
- Confident communicator, able to make recommendations and challenge commercial decisions at all levels. 
- Demonstrated ability to deliver individual projects alongside team goals. 
- Pricing and Promotion strategy experience in the FMCG industry.
