Deputy Director, Head of Corporate Strategy, opportunity to work flexibly, 2 year contract
The Head of Corporate Strategy will hold the following responsibilities:
Leading a team of up to 45 people and a staffing budget of £3 million per year.
Providing leadership to the Corporate Centre of over 100 staff, alongside the directorate’s senior management team.
Being an active member of some of the department’s corporate governance committees.
Overseeing internal business planning systems, including the Single Departmental Plan, and managing alignment of internal activity and operational planning.
Overseeing the department operating model and advising on changes initiatives and transformation to the model as the organisation adapts to new priorities.
Delivering a first-class central secretariat for all the department’s corporate governance structures including the weekly Executive Committee chaired by the Permanent Secretary.
Overseeing the development and management of the department’s frameworks for corporate governance, risk and issues, and management assurance.
Leading the department’s relationships with its Non Executive Board Members.
Leading the department’s relationships with its external (National Audit Office) and internal (Government Internal Audit Agency) and some cross-cutting stakeholders (e.g. Institute for Government).
Overseeing the Corporate Centre directorate’s internal systems for setting priorities, planning and performance management.
Giving central oversight to the department’s legal budget of £6 million per year.
Providing leadership to DExEU’s busy correspondence and freedom of information teams.
