We are seeking an Education Manager with an enthusiastic interest in supporting scientific researchers and clinicians to join the Advanced Courses and Scientific Conferences programme based at the Wellcome Genome Campus in Hinxton, near Cambridge. You will develop education and training strategy for the programme and manage and develop innovative education materials for the online courses programme. Along with the Education Development Officer, you will develop training materials, contribute ideas and novel approaches for teaching postgraduate-level courses in biomedicine, working closely with the team, our course instructors and organisers. You will also support the participants and trainers of the overseas programme aimed at researchers and clinical staff from low and middle-income countries with some teaching and also pastoral care.

Methodical and well organised, you will be able to work well within a small team and with many internal and external stakeholders. You will be a strong communicator with scientists and clinicians at all levels and demonstrate the ability to coordinate others. You must be able to work flexibly, some (planned) evenings and weekends, and to travel overseas two- four times a year.

Essential Skills
  • PhD or Equivalent professional qualification in education and training in genetics/genomics or a similar field Or PhD or Equivalent professional qualification in educational leadership and management
  • Experience of postgraduate teaching
  • Successful experience of leading initiatives, managing change, and project managing face-to-face and online training programmes with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong communicator with internal and external stakeholders and colleagues at all levels to generate and sustain commitment in collaborations
  • Highly organised and able to motivate, manage, and coordinate others (who may be more senior) where necessary
  • Able to work independently and in a team
  • Able to work flexibly, some (planned) evenings and weekends, and to travel overseas two- four times a year
  • Resilient, maintaining a professional approach when faced with challenges

Advanced Courses and Scientific Conferences is the only UK-based programme providing open postgraduate courses and conferences focused on biomedicine. We fund, develop and deliver training and conferences that span basic research, cutting-edge biomedicine, and the application of genomics in healthcare. Our programme spans basic research and translational biology, with an emphasis on large-scale approaches and innovative technologies in genetics, genomics and infectious diseases.

Around 60 events are organised each year attracting up to 3,500 scientists and clinicians to the campus. We have a global reach with delegates from over 130 countries. We also run courses regularly outside the UK, in Latin America, Africa and Asia. These overseas courses provide training tailored to regional biomedical communities in low- and middle-income countries.
