We have an exciting new opportunity for someone who is passionate about heritage and participation in sporting activity, who also has a keen interest in Visitor Experience. Working as part of a major new partnership between the Canal & River Trust and the National Trust, this position will see you work closely with our Creative Producer, Operations Manager, Active Outdoors Development Officer, Volunteering and Community Involvement Officer and range of partners to help create a programme that will engage our future visitors and will contribute towards the future success of this brand-new heritage attraction.

This role is required to work with vulnerable groups including children and any offer of employment or volunteering is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

What it's like to work here

At the Roundhouse, we want to 'do things differently, see things differently, and care for things differently'. You'll be working with a diverse range of people and developing relationships; you will be practical and have a strong attention to detail. You will be responsible for supporting the Active Outdoors programme at the Roundhouse in Birmingham. You will feed into a national team of Active Outdoors Development Officers as part of a National Trust and Sport England partnership; and work with colleagues at Canal & River Trust to develop opportunities for people to be active in Birmingham using the Roundhouse as a platform. You will also be responsible for supporting the link with regional opportunities for participation in the lead-up to the Common Wealth Games in 2020.

What you'll be doing

The role will support the development of new outdoor activity products and experiences with partners and ensure they are embedded into the business. This may include supporting on; the recruitment of volunteers; creating web / media content; engaging with local communities and with sports organisations; supporting the development of income streams; and coordinating the properties sporting activities programme.

Who we're looking for

In order to be successful in this role, you'll need to have;
  • Practical experience in sport development and a good understanding of the sports sector
  • Great people and customer service skills
  • Some experience in planning and delivering sports activities
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, and producing risk assessments
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • IT skills
