What it's about

Are you qualified electrician looking to do something with a bit of variety?

If so the role of Technical Services Engineer allows you to exercise your electrician skills whilst performing building maintenance tasks, giving you variety and scope within the role.

As a Technical Services Engineer you will work within a small team to undertake compliant installation, operation and maintenance of the Group's electrical and mechanical systems and equipment, thus ensuring that the designated Cambridge Assessment assets are maintained to be safe, secure and in excellent order.

What you'll be doing
  • Provide a consistent high level of customer service, through systematic proactive provision of engineering support in line with business agreed SLAs. Support the team activities to meet engineering and other reactive call SLAs as necessary.
  • Co-ordinate and undertake the annual Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule and all reactive works for electrical and mechanical equipment, systems and assets.
  • Plan, cost and manage electrical installation, testing and reactive maintenance repair projects, maintaining fully documented audit records.
  • Manage on site contractors to ensure that they are fully inducted and briefed about the work they are required to complete, in accordance with Company's guidelines and procedures and that they have all the necessary documentation (site induction / monitoring, Permit to Work, method statements and risk assessments). Inclusive of review of all works completed by contractor to ensure completion within approved standards and good practice, especially in relation to H&S and welfare
  • Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures and safe systems of work for all planned and reactive maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Provide electrical / mechanical expertise input into buildings projects.


There will be a requirement to work an early and late rotating shift pattern and will be expected to participate in an out-of hour's rota call out system.

What we're looking for

Candidates must be approved grade electricians, qualified to NVQ level 3 plus AM2 or equivalent to JIB Approved Electrician grade.

Candidates must have at least one of the following:

Certified City and Guilds 2382 to current IET wiring regulations (BS7671)

Certified City and Guilds 2391 inspection and testing or the new equivalent qualification

The following certifications would be advantageous, although training will be provided:

Portable appliance testing, IOSH Working Safely, IPAF, PASMA, PUWER, L8 and Asbestos Awareness
