Ready to negotiate the right deal?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Buyer to join our expanding Group Procurement team. You'll be determined, focused and curious ensuring we get the right suppliers in place at the right cost, balancing the need to drive value and manage risk.

What you'll be doing

With the direction and mentorship of the Senior Buyer, the Buyer has a golden opportunity to continually learn and develop a career in procurement.

Involved in the day-to-day commercial activities from identifying the right product or service provider, managing operational relationships with suppliers, and chairing supplier meetings when required, through to ensuring the right contractual terms and conditions are in place to underpin the deal.

A natural negotiator, with a keen eye on compliance and regulations, you will lead negotiations focused upon reasonable cost, reduced risk, security of supply and flexibility. As you develop within the role, we'll help you learn best practice, and you'll soon gain your own area of responsibility, such as Marketing or Consultancy. From there you will agree purchasing procedures for those products and services and start to develop more exposure and responsibilities.

Accountable for identifying any areas of concern and risk in supply contracts you'll have the support of the Senior Buyer where necessary, as you lead the negotiation to improve clauses with the vendor in question.

Your role will be varied, from administering purchase order processing for all Group expenditure, through to delivering project tasks as assigned by Senior Buyer. You'll be responsible for maintaining all records and systems to ensure auditable evidence of process compliance when required.

Monitoring and measuring process performance is key, as you have the opportunity support the Senior Buyer in producing regular and accurate management information to inform future Procurement strategies, and you'll also be involved in their implementation.

Exciting times! Are you ready to start your new career?

What we're looking for

You'll either be a Graduate or have previous demonstrable experience in a Procurement role and are looking to take the next step. With an understanding of commercial practices, ideally within procurement and supply, you'll be a fast learner who is eager to develop their understanding of Procurement, specifically tendering, SLAs and standard contractual clauses.

Customer focussed with good interpersonal skills, you'll have a keen eye for the detail. Good organisational skills are required in order to meet deadlines and you'll be comfortable managing a varied workload.

The ability to analyse data through spreadsheets and databases is key, and you will be confident in the use of intermediate Microsoft office applications such as Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.

You'll have demonstrable literacy, numeracy and accuracy skills, and the communication skills which allow you to develop good stakeholder and supplier relationships. Comfortable engaging face to face, over the telephone and email, you''' be ready to negotiate the right deal.
