What it's about
Following a strategic Technology Review, one of the outcomes at Cambridge Assessment has been a programme to transform how the organisation makes investment decisions and manages its project portfolio.
This has highlighted the need for a new Portfolio Office which is currently being established and has opened up this exciting new role within the Corporate Services Department. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) the PO Director will lead the Portfolio Office and the implementation of a revised Governance model.

What you'll be doing
Initially you will be leading the implementation of the new Portfolio Office including finalising the design of the department and the roles, and you will need to provide strong and engaging leadership to the newly formed Portfolio and PMO team.

Collaborating with key stakeholders in the Finance and the Strategy team, Investment Committee (IC) and Business Design Authority (BDA), you will represent the Portfolio Office to lead and guide portfolio planning and investment decision making processes. These will be critical to establishing a deeper customer and market focus within the organisation which, in turn, will enable the delivery of the Cambridge Assessment strategic ambitions. In addition, the role will work with other senior leaders to ensure that financial investment outcomes are achieved and aligned across Cambridge Assessment.

What we're looking for
• Significant experience of managing teams through change
• Significant experience of portfolio management
• Evidenced ability to lead teams using both waterfall and agile project methodologies and the ability to lead on the relevant governance for both
• Experience of working at all levels in a complex matrix organisation and comfortable with working at c-suite level
• Understanding of operational and technological capability planning, process development and implementation
• Strong budget management, strategic planning and financial projection management
• Experience of building a culture of transparency for portfolio decisions and performance
• An individual who demonstrates the values of Cambridge Assessment in being collaborative, responsible and innovative
• A leader who can deal with ambiguity and who communicates openly and transparently and can take a pragmatic approach
• A graduate who is also qualified as a project practitioner for Waterfall and Agile methodologies
