My client, a large international electronics manufacturer based in West London, is urgently seeking an EMEA Internal Control Specialist. This is a 2-3 month contract role initially, but could turn into a longer term opportunity for the right person. You should ideally be immediately available or on a maximum of 1 week's notice.
The EMEA Internal Control Specialist will work as part of a small (but expanding) specialist finance team in the EMEA Internal Control Department. You will be instrumental in delivering an efficient and effective Internal Control program for EMEA regions. The Internal Control team is a commercially focused, business partnering team, where your will work in direct contact with key business control managers and your future career path will be to take up an operational business opportunity through our talent rotation program, secondment or promotion into the commercial markets.

Key duties and responsibilities;
  • Perform risk assessment and SOX scoping under guidance of the team lead
  • Maintain internal documentation tools and provide training and guidance periodically and as required
  • Create and maintain flowcharts, narratives and other documentation support for all activities
  • Execute Entity Level Questionnaires, track progress and provide guidance
  • Lead control framework updates, review self-assessment, perform independent testing, monthly reporting and management of external auditors
  • Participate in business and operational audits; report findings, agree remediation plans and track progress
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects to enhance the capability of yourself, the team and the function

Required skills and experience;
  • ACA qualified accountant from a Big4 practice background with 2-5 years post-qual experience
  • An internal control and/or a SOX background
  • US GAAP experience from working with 1 or more US listed companies
  • Experience of flow-charting and documentation
  • Experience of managing remote stakeholders and across culture
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver assignments on time
  • A modern approach to control frameworks and systems and be comfortable with using new technology to enable automation where appropriate.
  • Business English is required, any other European language an advantage
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • This role requires some EMEA travelling (roughly 20%)
