Camden is an extremely diverse, lively, and compact borough in Central London. It has about 60 schools. The arts and music are highly valued in Camden.

Camden Music Service leads the Camden Music Hub, and organises some 5,000 instrumental lessons weekly, runs 2 Saturday music centres, around 40 out-of-school ensembles and choirs, and a wide range of borough festivals and activities. It works closely with a number of arts organisations to deliver exciting, innovative projects designed to bring high quality music to an ever-widening range of young people.

An important project for 2020 is the 11th Camden Schools' Music Festival at the Royal Albert Hall. This event brings 1800 children from every school in the borough together to sing in an evening performance with the senior borough ensembles and an orchestra of beginner players from the whole-class teaching programme.

The main objectives for the post holder are to support the Service during a time of personnel change, we are looking for a part-time Music Officer to support the delivery of our wide range of activities in our busy, friendly office. The successful candidate will also provide support to meet the needs of the Camden Music Service, particularly with regard to advising parents and tutors, taking payments, maintaining the accuracy of data on the database, assisting with the maintenance, issue and return of instruments from the hire collection.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

To be considered for this fantastic post the successful candidate must hold either a Music or Arts Degree or a Teaching qualification, equivalent qualification from a conservatoire or possess substantial equivalent experience in a similar post. You will have previous demonstrable experience of working in a music services or arts organisations (in some capacity) alongside a working knowledge of at least one family of instruments. The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to communicate with a ride range of respondents including members of the public. You will be fully proficient at using Microsoft Office packages such as Word and Excel and have excellent numeracy skills, including mental arithmetic.
