Communication Support Worker

Are you passionate about improving students' lives? We at West London College are looking for a Communication Support Worker to join the Inclusive Learning department to support students who are hearing impaired in receiving an excellent service delivery from the appointed applicant. It is essential you hold a BSL Level 4 or above. If you are as committed, driven and enthusiastic as we are to ensure an outstanding experience for the learners we serve we would love to hear from you.

The Role

You will be supporting hearing impaired students with their programmes of study across various areas within the College, creating positive relationships with them and assisting them in a classroom or workshop setting. You will be supporting students to be engaged in learning and reaching their potential.

The Person

You will have a commitment to raising achievement through setting high expectations, reflective practice and continuous personal and professional development. The clear focus for the Inclusive Learning department, is the provision of support in education for individuals with learning difficulties and/ or disabilities. As well as needing great communication skills, experience of working in a similar setting and the ability to use your initiative, you will also require a great sense of humour and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Essential that you have BSL Level 4 or above.
  • Essential that you have qualifications at Level 2 or above in English and Maths.
  • Effective organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience of working with people with learning difficulties and disabilities is essential.
  • Experience of working with young people who demonstrate challenging behaviour would be an advantage.

Hours: 4 days per week, 4.5 hours per day - Term Time Only

Tenure: 1 Year Fixed Term

Salary: £11,290 actual per annum
