Peabody have a fantastic opportunity for a Hoarding Coordinator to join our team based in Folkestone & Hythe. You will join us on a part time, fixed term contract until 31st March 2021 (may be extended) in return for a competitive salary £24,033 per annum, Pro Rata . The Hoarding Coordinator role: We are looking for someone to be a key member of the Home Improvement Agency team offering high quality flexible personalised support for people who exhibit hoarding behaviours that live within the Folkestone and Hythe local authority area in Kent. Your role will require you to deliver one to one support to clients in their homes aiming to address and reduce the risks connected to their hoarding. You will support clients to achieve their personal goals and outcomes, ensuring they are supported to make choices towards a healthier and happier life and that their physical/mental health will be improved as well as supporting the client to de-clutter their home. Key responsibilities of our Hoarding Coordinator: - Identify and deal with any immediate needs to ensure client safety. - Build trust and rapport with each individual. - Carry out needs and risk assessments and complete support plans. - Organise and provide regular structured support sessions with each client, covering topics such as practical support, financial support, and relationship problems. - Work with and engage the client to work towards de-cluttering their home, this may involve working with other members of staff or partner agencies. - Identify where possible the root cause for the hoarding disorder and seek to refer the client to specialist support services such as the mental health team, bereavement counselling, debt advice, relationship counselling etc. - Develop and/or maintain constructive relationships with any partner agencies, working towards a common goal ensuring the client receives the right type of support and the best possible outcomes. - Provide health promotion advice and information ensuring this is relevant and up to date including community equipment, simple aids for daily living and assistive technologies. - Work at times as a lone practitioner being aware of the Lone Working Policy and making full use of the equipment provided to staff for the use of lone working. - Investigate and respond to client enquiries and complaints and ensure they are resolved effectively and ; - Implement effective safeguarding practice for vulnerable adults and children in accordance with local authority and Peabody policies, guidance and protocol. - Implement the association's equal opportunities policy as an integral part of all duties and observe the letter and the spirit of the policy at all times. Skills and experience required of our Hoarding Coordinator: - At least 2 years' demonstrable experience of working with and providing support and advice to the most vulnerable people within our communities and knowledge of how this affects their life and the decisions they make. - Understanding and empathy for people with mental health needs and people who display hoarding behaviour. - Ability to deal effectively and calmly with challenging situations that may arise. - Up to date knowledge of welfare benefits. - Understanding of the needs of our client group and the benefits of a flexible, outcome focussed and personalised support service. - Knowledge and awareness of products, solutions and information on related services provided by the statutory and voluntary sector, to include but not limited to; Welfare benefits, Care services provisions, Home maintenance, Housing choices, Safety within the home, Adaptations and equipment. - Comprehensive IT skills to include use of Microsoft office and to be able to make the most effective use of IT systems with attention to detail.
