DEVELOPMENT WORKER Salary: 3-day post 12,450 per annum (full time £20,751) Hours: 3 days a week 9am to Location: BD1 3AZ Responsible to: Managing Editor BTM is an organisation that is passionate about making information accessible to as many people as possible. We work with, and support, a broad range of individuals and communities who find ordinary print difficult or impossible to ; They are currently looking for someone with enthusiasm and understanding to be part of the team of staff and volunteers. To be successful in this role, you should be a thoughtful person with experience of working with disabled people. A confident decision-maker, helping our people develop and be productive. You will be willing to learn new skills and have an understanding of the Accessible Information Standard Ultimately, you'll help our charity and company grow and thrive. Duties Include: Being part of and contributing to a forward thinking and inclusive team Working with and supporting the development of our work groups of people with sensory loss, people with learning disabilities and people who are mental health service users Facilitating the implementation of our charity's objectives Contribute to ensuring BTM maintains its culture of professionalism and inclusion, supported by coaching, training and development Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with organisations and individuals to promote the work of our charity Ensuring safeguarding compliance Ensure best practise with your team members and promote the accessible information we produce As part of the team you will: Deliver day-to-day operations Enable and support through example and delivery the people we work alongside Maintain any budgets and expenses you are allocated Support our policies and processes Ensure our volunteers and work group members work productively and develop their skills Be part of the team that recruits and delivers training to new work group members By working with the rest of the team ensure that BTM remains at the forefront of positive change in the delivery of accessible information and opportunities for disabled people Prepare regular reports for the Principal Officer to deliver to the voluntary management committee Ensure you work in line with health and safety regulations and you are compliant with safeguarding and our guidance on good practice Essential Requirements: Experience of working in the community and voluntary sector Experience of working with people with disabilities Experience in planning work programmes Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite Excellent communication skills Problem-solving aptitude Desirable Requirements: Knowledge of charity compliance and working with the VCS Knowledge of the Adobe Suite of programmes The contents of this post may change from time to time to meet the needs of the service.
