City of Wolverhampton College is looking for a Biology Lecturer to join our team based at our Paget Road campus, but you may be required to work across all campus sites. You will join us on a part time basis working 3 hours per week (Thursday 09:30 - 12:45) however variable hours are available. The role: As our Biology Lecturer , you will be working as part of the science teams you will play a key role as a personal tutor alongside delivering excellent theoretical lessons to support students during their final major projects as part of BTEC and GCSE's. You will provide excellent learning opportunities and add value through enrichment activities that inspire and promote learner engagement and achievement through a range of programmes on our premises. Key responsibilities of the Biology Lecturer : - Planning/Implementing - Logical sequence, events/tasks/plans, deciding priorities, arranging events, setting up systems, utilising resources etc - Controlling/Reviewing - Controlling people/other resources, action in emergencies, chasing people, evaluating costs/alternatives, specifications/standards/compliance, etc - Supervising/Directing - Promote and implement strategies within teaching and learning sessions that support students with differentiated learning needs in addition to embedding numeracy and literacy - Supervising/Directing - People at work, maintaining a presence, ensuring compliance with regulations, acting leader, giving instructions, administering tests, emergencies etc. - Checking - Proof reading, availability of materials, work to specification, records, calculations, defects, authorization, etc - Representing/Selling (products or services)- Contacting customers, new/established customers, answering enquiries, making enquiries, negotiating etc - Clerical/Administration function - Routine administration, records, forms, typing, filing, handling mail, managing appointments etc Experience and skills required of our Biology Lecturer: Essential - Teaching Qualification DTLLS, Cert Ed., or PGCE or be willing to work towards - Hold English and Maths GCSE Grade C qualification/hold Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent - An appropriate level of qualification in the subject areas - Suitable experience and/or the capacity to design and deliver teaching and learning or training - Delivery of embedding English & Maths skills, equality & diversity alongside the main programme - Experience, subject specialism and relevant qualifications in the subject/vocational area - Experience of delivering to Awarding Body standards including marking and assessment work Desirable - Relevant qualification the level of above the level that is being taught - Experience across different Awarding Bodies, setting up new programmes - Assessor and/or IV qualified - Ability to move between sites in a timely manner - Able to obtain a clean DBS approval Closing Date: 24th October 2019 So if you would like to join our team as a Biology Lecturer then please click ' apply ' today, we'd love to hear from you!
