Here at Southend University Hospital we strive to provide high quality care for every patient, every time.

We would be nothing without our staff. So it goes without saying that when it comes to recruiting new team members, we're looking for the best. We encourage staff to be innovative, to challenge the 'as is' and to always put patients first.

We want staff who will live our trust values every day.

Care with compassion, Working together, Professional and accountable

An exciting opportunity has arisen for innovative and forward thinking RGN/RN Adult nurses who are starting out in paediatrics and looking for progression to develop new skills, get involved in quality improvement and collaborate with paediatric teams thus gaining valuable insight into paediatric nursing.

Join our dynamic and friendly nursing team working in our general paediatric ward providing general and specialist care to the children and families that use our services (including Surgical, Orthopaedic, ENT and Day Surgery).

The successful candidate will need to be highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced nurse. Additionally, the post holder will need to have a flexible approach and work across our Paediatric directorate including the Paediatric Assessment Unit, enabling the post holder to enhance their clinical skills. We have a strong ethos of inter-professional team working.

We are keen to develop our staff, promoting both career advancement and professional development. You will be supported by our clinical practice educators working in the department who are responsible for the development of all our undergraduate nursing students, rotation nursing staff and our full time ward staff. We offer internal and external paediatric study days to keep your skills completely up-to-date.

We will provide a bespoke induction and structured development programme put together by our clinical practice educator based on both the service and your own development needs.

The post holder will be expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and will be required to demonstrate procedures, supervise qualified and/or unqualified staff whilst maintaining a safe working environment.

Band 5 nurses work closely with the Ward Sisters, Senior nursing team and multi-disciplinary team members within Neptune Ward in monitoring and maintaining policies, standards of nursing care and staff development as part of Neptune Ward.

Our passionate staff believe that the needs of each individual child are central to their wellbeing. We acknowledge the importance of the family/carers to that child and work in partnership with them to provide the best possible care in both a safe and caring manner. We treat those families as we would wish to be treated ourselves; always providing the highest quality of care to all.

Why not come along to our Recruitment Open Day on 12th October 2019 at 10am - 1pm on Neptune Ward. We welcome qualified nurses and nurses due to qualify in September 2019.
