Our Trust was awarded an 'Outstanding' rating for 'use of resources' by an NHS Improvement inspection which was completed during the same period as the CQC assessment.

The Role

Radiology Consultant - Chest

This is a Substantive Consultant Radiologist appointment, which has arisen as a result of local changes in established consultants working practices. In addition this post is also appointed as part of a succession planning exercise.

The successful candidate will work as a Consultant Radiologist and be part of the Radiology team at the Chelsea and Westminster Trust, working at both main sites, Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital. This post is for a Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in Cardiothoracic Imaging.

The main responsibilities of the post are of a general and cardiothoracic radiologist, with specific skills in cardiac CT. The post holder will already have extensive experience in cardiac CT and thoracic imaging including image guided lung biopsies.

The successful candidate will (1) supervise and interpret cardiac CT for the Trust Rapid Access Chest Pain Service, and the HIV/Genitourinary Medicine Directorate as part of its Ageing/HIV Screening Program and (2) co-chair the Lung Cancer Multidisciplinary Team Meeting at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital , providing diagnostic and interventional services (e.g. CT and ultrasound guided biopsy) across the Trust. There will be an additional requirement for general cross-sectional imaging (CT, MR,US).

Each Consultant will have access to a PACS reporting station, a PC and in addition a laptop for remote access to images for on call purposes.

It is expected that the post holder will deliver an on-call service as part of their commitment to the general radiology services of the imaging service, taking part in the on call rota at West Middlesex Hospital. In addition, there may be emergency situations when attendance outside routine hours is required.

The 10 PA contract comprises 8 DCC sessions and 2 SPA sessions. An evening session may form part of the job plan. The proposed job plan will be subject to change to allow for any future extended 7-day service requirement and provision of services across the entire Trust.

The applicant should be on the Specialist register of the GMC and be a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists or equivalent.

Radiation Protection is a paramount responsibility. It will be a requirement to ensure patient, staff and public safety by compliance with local policies and with appropriate legislation and professional standards.
