The Role

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to coordinate and assist the development of a national project supporting the children of the people we support. Military Kids Club Heroes (MKC) Heroes is a national support group for the children of Service and former Service men and women and a network of after-school clubs. MKC Heroes brings together members of Armed Forces families aged between 3 and 18 years old from all over the country and further afield. Members are ambassadors and young advocates for Armed Forces families across the United Kingdom and most importantly they are friends who are there for each other, especially in times of need. MKC Heroes currently has in the region of 8,000 members and around 150 schools signed up across the country, undertaking peer to peer support, choirs, clubs, student voice initiatives and representation at remembrance events alongside our wider Legion Membership.

An excellent communicator, with experience of, or working within the Armed Forces community with families, you will be able to establish, develop and maintain good relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders and volunteers. You will support the administration and smooth running of the service during a period of change and development for MKC Heroes, offering project coordination, partnership working, alongside experience of co-design and development. An understanding of the UK Education system is also key. Reporting to the Area Manager for Devon & Cornwall, this role has a national remit.

If you are excited by the opportunity to be part of a small team working to help develop, support and grow this national network, support the Armed Forces community and generate opportunities for peer to peer and intergenerational dialogue that can help people build connections and combat social isolation then this is the role for you.

This role is flexibly based from our Plymouth Office, PL1 1LB, with the opportunity to work from home. There is a requirement to travel regionally and occasionally, nationally. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is required.
