We have an exciting opportunity to support individuals across our Learning disability and Autism services. This could involve practical support with the person`s daily life, personal care or helping to promote a positive, active and healthy lifestyle. We support over 2500 individuals with a variety of needs, some may have physical and/or learning disabilities. Others may have Autism, limited verbal communication and challenging behaviour which could be in the form of physical and verbal aggression or withdrawing from support. Responsibilities of the Support Practitioner: As a Support Practitioner you will be required to support individuals with budget management, shopping, home care medication support, meal planning etc. You may also be supporting individuals to appointments. You will also support individuals by playing an active role within the local community. You will support individuals to activities of interest, which could include, bowling, swimming, gardening groups, walking groups, Bingo, and various social events. Some individuals have their own car therefore you will be required to have a driving license in order to be able to support the individuals on activities. Each person we support is unique so each support role will be different to the next, giving you the chance to really make a difference in that individuals life. Requirements of the Support Practitioner: Previous experience in working with individuals with Autism, learning disabilities, complex needs and challenging behaviours is great but a full training program is offered to everyone who joins The Richmond Fellowship Scotland, so even if this is a new career path for you, we would love to meet you.
