The Council are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and innovative professional Social Service Worker to join their friendly and well established Children with Disabilities team in order to support citizens across Southend-on-Sea (including out-of-borough cases) with the aim to offer the appropriate support in the right place at the right time.
The team understands individual's strengths and assets and wishes to maximise their potential for independence, recognising the importance of assuming that the individual is best placed to know their own outcomes, goals and wellbeing.

Your new role
The Council are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and competent Social Service Worker for a permanent part time 18.5 per week position. Within this challenging and rewarding position you will be required to work within the children with disabilities team, supporting families after the initial assessment from the Qualified Social Worker.
  • You will be planning future assessments as well as looking into the legal side of them
  • Work closely with schools to help with planning and placement of the children.
  • Helping to manage the tracker of children aged 14 - 16
  • Maintain business support of the progress of children

  • Presenting to the board

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position you need to have previous experience of working within a children and families field with knowledge of child disabilities being an advantage along with legislation, regulation, guidance and policy issues. This position would ideally suit a newly qualified social worker who is looking to get into front line services. The manager is looking for someone who is a committed and caring person with first class communication skills.
