We have multiple opportunities available to join us as a Targeted Youth Support Lead Support Worker on a part time basis operating over a 38 week calendar year to be determined by the service. In this role you will provide support to staff within the Service in working with children, young people and their families individually or in groups at risk of adverse outcomes and providing cover for a range of tasks and duties which are undertaken within the Targeted Youth Support Service. In return you will receive a competitive salary pro rata of £19,554 - £21,166 per annum. These young people may be vulnerable and / or are taking risks and may require help and support to prevent their difficulties from escalating. This Targeted Youth Support Lead Support Worker role will lead in the delivery of issue based programmes using recreational activities and resources to support the engagement process. There is a responsibility as a Lead Worker for the staff supervision within your team. The work will involve a range of duties working evenings as part of a team and duties can be building based, or detached / outreach. Key responsibilities of our Targeted Youth Support Lead Support Worker: - Establish contact and relationships with young people who are at risk of poor outcomes and be actively involved in face to face work to provide positive activities in order to meet their identified needs, increase their self-confidence / self-worth and build a sense of achievement and aspiration - Implement programmes and diversionary activities which promote and encourage participation and responsibility amongst young people - Work under the direction of a nominated member of staff to provide specific support to their clients - Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people at all times - Support the facilitation of group activities and supervision and to maintain a confidential service to young people and their parents in line with statutory requirements and local authority policy. To act as a positive role model to young people at all times - Participate in group activities and programmes in liaison with a nominated member of staff - Contribute to the co-ordination, organisation and implementation of targeted programmes and activities which promote and encourage participation and responsibility amongst young people - Provide direction to Assistant Workers during sessional work, as appropriate What we're looking for in our ideal Targeted Youth Support Lead Support Worker : - 4 GCSE or equivalent level qualification - Relevant safeguarding training or willingness to undertake within 3 months of appointment - Experience of working with children, young people or families with challenging or difficult behaviour - Experience of organising group work activities, leisure activities and working with groups of children and young people - Experience of working within a team setting and maintaining good working relationships with people in other agencies / organisations - Willing to work flexibly in accordance with policies and procedures to meet the operational needs of the council - Willing to undertake training and continuous professional development in connection with the post - Work in accordance with the council's vision, priorities, values and behaviours - Able to undertake any travel in connection with the post Closing date: Friday 11th October 2019 If you feel you have the necessary skills and abilities for our Targeted Youth Support Lead Support Worker # we would very much welcome your application so please click ' Apply ' today!
