Merton Uplift is a new and exciting primary care mental health service, which incorporates a the Merton Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service, a Wellbeing service and a Primary Care Recovery and Support Service. As we are a new service we have a number of job roles available and this is your opportunity to join our team.

Merton IAPT offers evidence based psychological interventions including CBT, IPT, and EMDR to its residents. We hope to expand our provision of psychological interventions to include DIT and BCT in the near future. The service is professionally led by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and operationally managed by the Merton Uplift Service Manager. The clinical team includes qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologists and CBT Therapists, IAPT High Intensity Trainees, and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, all of whom provide evidence-based psychological interventions in line with NICE guidance.

The post holder will work clinically within the IAPT service which delivers a range of evidence-based psychological interventions to people with common mental health problems (i.e., depression, anxiety disorders and eating disorders) within a stepped-care model. Merton IAPT is professionally managed by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and operationally managed by the Merton Uplift Service Manager.

The IAPT team includes Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, IAPT High Intensity Practitioners, and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, who provide evidence-based psychological interventions in line with NICE guidance.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner to join our committed and hard working team of clinicians in Merton IAPT on a permanent basis. You will be providing high volume low intensity interventions, which will be a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.

You will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities. You will receive regular clinical supervision from a Band 7 Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or CBT Therapist working within the service and have the opportunity to attend regular in-house training sessions and clinical skills groups. There are several opportunities to be involved in specialist pathways of care within the service, including LTCs, perinatal and learning disabilities.

You will work clinically within primary care settings and be required to work flexible hours in line with the 'Improving Access' agenda. The service operates from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, and 9 to 1pm on Saturdays and the postholder will be required to work at least one evening per week including occasional Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. Working hours can be negotiated and many of our clinicians prefer to work condensed hours to allow for a better work/life balance.
