Your new role

We are currently looking to recruit a dedicated full-time Accounts Receivable Officer to join our established team who will work in Accounts Receivable. As an Accounts Receivable Officer, you will seek the most efficient collection routes, meeting council and customers' needs, and influence the implementation of best practice processes in performance and service delivery so that the team meets its collection targets and supports broader corporate objectives.

The team deal with the day-to-day administration, billing, collection and recovery of miscellaneous income owed to the Council. Dealing with a diverse range of customers and services that the Council provide it is essential that applicants have a strong background in delivering excellent customer service in a pressured environment. Liaison with other internal departments is a key part of the role.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you need to have strong communications skills and great interpersonal skill as you will be liaison with various stakeholders. As a service we deal with enquiries from the general public, Councillors, MP's and other departments, therefore knowledge of General Data Protection is essential for this role, as is an eye for detail.
It would be an advantage if the applicant has experience working in a debt recovery environment as a majority of the role is ensuring customers pay their invoices when due, negotiating payment arrangements where necessary, and taking suitable recovery action on unpaid debts, however this is not essential.

Being able to work well as part of a team is essential, whilst also being required to demonstrate their ability to work independently, make decisions for themselves and to manage their own workload. Officers are also required to achieve individual goals and team targets therefore applicants should be able to demonstrate experience working in a performance driven environment.

Ability to use computer systems including word processing, spreadsheets and databases is essential for this role.
