The Client who is a Solicitors firm based in High Holborn, London and is in the Legal 500 Index and have an opening for a German qualified/speaking Lawyer to join their Aviation department which has taken on an exciting period of growth and continues to build a reputation among Europe's Airlines with more clients in the pipeline.

There is now an opening for a German speaking Lawyer to join their team with Aviation or Civil background to deal with any litigation matters within the department and also providing legal advice and assistance to the department and its clients.

It is not essential to be an expert in Aviation Law however Civil Litigation experience will be essential for this Role! If you hold a German Practising License then that would be suitable although a UK Practising license is preferred but not essential

Purpose/Main Objectives:

Acting on behalf of the Head of Department, You will be able to help support all Practice decisions, and provide any support required in order to positively promote quality of service to clients, and advise clients of other legal services they may require by other departments. Other duties will Include but not limited to the drafting and review of statements of case, witness statements, and written submissions, and the provision of guidance and direction to paralegals on individual cases. You may be required to attend hearings and to provide advocacy services at times and there is always a chance for you help train and mentor more junior staff members and promote quality of service to clients.

Responsibilities & Duties:

- Deal with delegated cases as required, reporting progress to the Head of Department/Directors
- Assist in the management of the own department and the supervision of staff members (if necessary)
- Liaise with clients and other professionals in a prompt and professional manner; coordinate the work of all parties involved; instruct barristers to appear in court for the client in disputes
- Appear at hearings as required to provide advocacy services as counsel
- Follow internal methods, policies, and procedures
- Research and analyse documents and case law
- To act in a confidential manner
- Remain informed of changes in any area of specialisation.
- Prepare Briefs to Counsel and to adhere to accurate and comprehensive file management and maintenance practices of caseload.
- Attend upon clients at offices, build good relationships with stakeholders, deal with all aspects of a case file
- Maintenance of diaries & time Recording
- Work as part of a team
- Draft legal documents.
- Respond to clients' requests
- Network with clients and build valuable relationships
- Carry out other types of administrative duties such as billing, invoicing, time recording; compile litigation bundles, deal with correspondence, collect and organise evidence
- Use the company's case management system
- Any other hoc duties as directed by the Head of Department and/or Directors

Skills & Qualifications:
Essential:
- Relevant Law Degree and Qualification
- Fluent German
- At least 3 years of experience practising as a solicitor or barrister
- Must hold a full practicing certificate in Germany (essential)
- Practicing Certificate in the UK (preferred, not essential)
- Experience in Civil Litigation (essential)
- Experience in Aviation Law (preferred, not essential)
- Experience in Defendant Personal Injury cases (preferred, not essential)
- Have their own client following (preferred, not essential)
- Highly organised;
- Research skills and data maintenance skills
- Strong client relationship skills.
- Able to work well under pressure, without sacrificing attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication are essential.
- Self-starter and the ability to work autonomously.
- Self-awareness and a commitment to using feedback to learn and develop as a professional
- Ability to read, digest and process vast amounts of information into data that can be used in a legal case
- Computer Literacy
