At OCR we create qualifications and services based on our customers needs. To do this we need to carry out thorough research with our customers. As the Market Researcher it will be your responsibility to ensure that we know exactly what teachers and learners want from OCR's products. The role of the Market Researcher at OCR will be to carry out research with customers and stakeholders to ensure that OCR remains a customer focused organisation delivering quality products and services.

This is an exciting role, where we really like to be innovative and think outside the box. You have the opportunity in this role to be a critical part in the development of new qualifications that will be delivered to learners across the UK.

What you'll be doing
  • Conduct primary research activities (qualitative and quantitative) with customers and stakeholders - surveys, interviews, focus groups, workshops, webinars etc.
  • Conduct secondary research on customer, market and competitor behaviours to inform OCR's Business strategy and position in the market place.
  • Present research in the most appropriate way for colleagues this could be reports, infographics, podcasts, presentations etc.
  • Commission and manage external research agencies to carry out research on our behalf.
  • Keep research database up to date and create insight reports based on this when required.
  • Build succsessful working relationships with internal customers.

What we're looking for

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent or 2 years relevant experience in a market research role.

  • Primary and secondary research skills and techniques.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent written skills.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Highly proficient IT skills and ability to use and organise large data.


  • Experience of qualitative and quantitative research and methodologies.
  • Experience of data analysis and results presentations.
  • Understanding of customer and competitor relationships.

  • Experience of briefing and managing third party agencies.
  • Experience of the UK Education sector.
  • Relevant market research qualifications.
  • Experience of writing business/research reports and presenting data in new and innovative ways.

  • Analytical thinking.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Inquisitive and innovative.
