If you answer yes to all of these then an exciting opportunity awaits you as part of new Gloucestershire Hospitals Frailty Assessment Unit.

Due to the creation of a new assessment unit we have opportunities for Registered Nurses to join the team.

The Frailty Unit is a 10 bedded Unit. The purpose of the unit is to provide rapid assessment of patients living with frailty who have been admitted into the acute hospital.Embracing #homefirst and #last100days ideologies we aim to get patients back to their own environment as soon as it is safe.We have close links with our community partners to support early discharge and this has allowed us to have on average a length of stay less than 20 hours.

We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic team players that will help us build and shape this new and exciting venture. As a registered nurse you must be passionate about providing gold standard care whilst promoting independence.

We ask that you're keen to work in a multi-disciplinary team and are passionate about developing outstanding integrated services for older people.

On a daily basis you will be expected to be responsible for the care a selection of patients along with the Health Care Assistants. Together with a team of enthusiastic and motivated multi-disciplinary practitioners, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists and medics you will help us to develop the ward based service.

In return we offer a robust induction programme and will provide you with the prospect to learn and develop your skills as a Staff Nurse. Opportunities that we offer include:
  • Two week supernumerary induction program
  • Mentorship and career coaching
  • Local teaching programs including topics such as dementia, delirium and recognizing sepsis
  • Band 5 Preceptorship program
  • Bespoke training opportunities identified through appraisal
  • Competencies in IV medicine administration and blood transfusion, IV cannulation, phlebotomy, male catheterisation
  • Full-time/part-time/flexible hours
  • Rotation through the other areas of Care of the Elderly.
