We are currently looking to recruit a Corporate Immigration Lawyer to join the Employment Group in our London office. Whilst there is some flexibility on PQE level, we envisage that this role would most likely suit a candidate with upwards of 5 years' PQE.
Our Employment Group is independently recognised as one of the best and most experienced teams in the country. With over 60 employment lawyers, we have one of the best resourced teams of employment specialists of any law firm in the country, offering national coverage from all of our offices. Within the Group we have a UK-wide standalone Corporate Immigration Team.
We help finance directors, HR teams, Global Mobility teams and in-house employment lawyers of major UK and international companies to navigate the UK's complex immigration rules and save money so that they can focus on managing their workforce more effectively, whilst remaining compliant and recruiting the talent they need. We work with range of sectors, from higher education, infrastructure and finance to technology companies and professional services.
We pride ourselves on providing practical, speedy, pragmatic and tailored commercial advice to clients. We provide our clients with commercially acceptable solutions, not merely details of the legal issues. Our approach has resulted in us developing long term relationships and partnerships with clients, many of whom are household name companies.
The successful candidate will ideally have gained at least 5 years' UK corporate immigration law experience in either a large commercial firm, or an immigration boutique firm with a corporate focus, building up market knowledge and contacts and with specific experience of dealing with:
- sponsor licence applications and compliance (including compliance audits);
- the sponsorship management system;
- immigration obligations triggered in corporate transactions and exercises;
- sponsorship and visa applications under all Tiers of the Points Based System (including sponsorship under Tier 4);
- Brexit, European free movement rights and related applications;
- settlement and citizenship applications;
- preparing and delivering immigration compliance training to clients;
- compliance audits;
- visa applications for representatives of overseas businesses; and
- the prevention of illegal working (including responding to enforcement action).
We are looking for a candidate with rounded experience in the above corporate areas and not just Tier 2 sponsorship and visa applications. As a team we generally do not advise individuals in immigration matters and so this is a role which will focus on corporate immigration support and require experience of the same. The candidate will deal with a wide range of corporate immigration matters for our clients (both public and private sector). The candidate should have experience of working cross border to support global mobility functions.
Experience of advising on related employment risks in immigration situations, including unfair dismissal and discrimination claims, and immigration litigation would be valuable but not essential.
We do not currently have anyone within our corporate immigration team based in London. The candidate will sit with our wider employment team, which the Corporate Immigration Team is part of. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to work with the Corporate Immigration Team to build our existing practice further in London. As such, the candidate will be commercially aware and enthusiastic about business development. They will have demonstrable experience of effective business development and a drive to do so in an organised and systematic manner. Given the exposure to senior City clients and internal colleagues, the candidate will have excellent communication skills and be confident dealing directly with senior individuals and with public speaking. They will also be comfortable being supervised and supported remotely. A client following would be of interest but is not essential.
They will have a strong academic background. Candidates must be technically excellent. They will be a team player with the abi
