OLIO is the world's only neighbour-to-neighbour food sharing app, and our mission is to solve the problem of food waste in the home & local community. We do this by connecting anyone with spare food - which can be households or food businesses - with neighbours living nearby who would like it. Globally, over one third of all the food we produce gets thrown away, which is worth over $1 trillion. What few people realise however is that in the developed world, over half of all food waste takes place in the home, with the average UK family throwing away £800 of food each year - collectively adding up to £15bn. OLIO solves this with our award-winning mobile & web apps.

Over the past 4 years OLIO has grown from a local initiative in North London to a global movement. We now have over 1.5m users who have together shared well over 2.5 million portions of food - with food being successfully shared in 49 countries and counting. Underpinning this incredible growth has been our volunteer programme, with over 40,000 people reaching out to spread the word about OLIO in their local community and rescue unsold food.

In addition, OLIO works with ~400 business locations across the UK with Food Waste Heroes completing ~2,000 surplus food collections each week. OLIO is now looking to grow the Food Waste Heroes programme substantially as we embark upon the next exciting phase in our journey.


In order to accelerate OLIO to its next level in growth and impact, we are recruiting for a Head of B2B Sales. Depending on your level of experience you will either report into Michael Barsties, Head of OLIO's Food Waste Heroes Programme, or Saasha Celestial-One, OLIO's Co-Founder, and will be managing a small but growing sales team. This is an incredible opportunity for an experienced sales person to apply all of their knowledge to a new market, and to substantially shape OLIO's B2B sales strategy.

In this role you will be responsible for:
  • Shaping OLIO's B2B sales strategy end-to-end
  • Executing OLIO's B2B sales strategy with the help of your sales team (2 people, with budget to hire additional roles in Q1 2020)
  • Managing and developing 2+ direct reports
  • Conceptualising and improving all relevant sales collateral
  • Networking extensively to help solidify OLIO's reputation as a leading solution in the food waste space

What you will be selling:
  • OLIO's Food Waste Heroes Programme
  • OLIO Food Waste Heroes (FWHs) collect unwanted surplus food from offices, caterers, venues, etc.
  • FWHs take the food home and distribute it via the OLIO app
  • OLIO provides impact metrics to the business
  • OLIO FWHs help offices and caterers to be zero edible waste, and to reach their sustainability goals

Who you will be selling to:
  • To C-level, Head of-level (CSR/Marketing/Environment/Health and Safety)
  • To corporates, which use contract caterers and serve food to either staff or clients
  • To food businesses (contract caterers), which serve food at corporate offices

Once you have proven yourself you will have great freedom and autonomy, coupled with an enormous opportunity for personal development. All of our roles are remote and flexible working, however for London based team members there is the ability to co-work as well. We live for our mission, but like to have fun along the way!


Our ideal candidate will first and foremost be as passionate about our mission as we are! In addition to this, you will have the following experience and skills:
  • A proven track record in B2B sales
  • Experience in selling intangible solutions
  • Data-driven
  • A creative and strategic thinker
  • A strong relationship builder with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience managing people
  • Experience using CRM systems & analytics tools
  • Preferred: an understanding of the UK's contract catering industry
