Job Summary

We are currently hiring for a Risk & Audit Manager to join the Central Services Team in our Reading offices. Our Quality and Governance Department is one of the more challenging but most rewarding places to work. You will be responsible for ensuring that Health Care objectives driving high standards of patient care and operational sustainability are achieved through the implementation of proportionate and effective risk management processes to ensure the identification, assessment, recording and mitigation of risks and hazards for both individual local services and the Secondary Care division as a whole. You will manage an annual audit programme as part of the Secondary Care assurance process. The programme will measure compliance with SOPs, policies and agreed activities designed to ensure and improve patient care including demonstration of embedded learning from incidents and investigations within local services . Remote based. Travel will be required 2-3 times a month to the Reading Office as well as visits to all Secondary care services as required. Key Responsibilities

• In collaboration with the Head of Health and Safety maintain the Health Care Risk Management policies that are required to support the safe and effective management of risk. • Maintain policies that underpin the audit strategy and activities. • Work with operational, quality and governance managers to ensure risk management tools including the various Datix modules meet the changing needs of the organisation. • Co-ordinate and chair the Datix forum to manage change and facilitate effective stakeholder relationships. • Ensure effective processes for shared learning from complaints, incidents and near misses. • Support the risk management activities associated with mobilising and de-mobilising services and clinical pathways. • To establish and maintain an audit programme and in response to the audit findings, monitor the completion of any improvement plans arising from audits and report against it. • Ensure there are effective systems and processes for cascading Safety Alerts and sharing learning from complaints, incidents and near misses, and for managing the associated actions. • The post holder will ensure that the Health Care risk management strategy and risk reporting activities are in line with Care UK Group's expectations. • Ensure robust governance around the management of new audit proposals through the Clinical Audit Group (CAG) • Co-ordinate and chair the CAG meetings, ensuring published NICE Guidance and clinical best practice is considered for exceptional audits • Generating and collating relevant quality and governance statistical analysis to identify relevant themes and trends develop specific methods to identify and meet needs and report upwards. • Engagement/Agreement with service streams/Governance/Medical & publishing of Service Stream Specific 'Clinical audit Schedules' for Secondary Care services • Oversight of National Clinical Audit programmes and Care UK's potential engagement in audits • Maintain and develop Audit tools & documents such as the 'Audit Summary Report' for service streams in Secondary Care • Production of the month-end audit board report with oversight and management of activities for obtaining audit data (processing of email audit results, liaising with services and requesting updates on actions in partial & non-compliant audits) • Managing 'Audit proposals' that are submitted from Secondary Care services

Qualifications

• Evidence of a good level of attainment in basic education • Degree or other higher education qualification

• A thorough knowledge of risk management processes and their application
• Knowledge of how to construct Standard Operating procedures and gain staffs' commitment to their adoption
