Are you a driven, ambitious and confident individual who is eager to help scale-up a business over the next 5 years? Do you thrive on smashing targets, love travelling and enjoy working both in a team and independently?

We are a leading education provider who specialises in life skills courses for children in the UK and Internationally (Saudi Arabia, Singapore, China, Mexico, Switzerland to name just a few). We have just closed a round of angel funding and now are in need of a hungry and passionate individual to join our Business Development team to help us expand more internationally, reach our ambitious revenue targets and realise our ambition to become the market leader in the character education space.

Why we exist

We want to inspire a generation of children to become the very best they can be through their relationships, their well-being and their own sense of purpose.

We want to do this by teaching at least a million children over the next few years how to communicate well, collaborate effectively, think critically, solve problems creatively and lead brilliantly so that they can shape their future and those around them.

The role

This opportunity will suit a determined individual who has had 3-5 years experience in Business Development or Sales and is happy to travel solo for 4 - 8 weeks a year. When we say ambitious revenue targets, we mean grow our number of course bookings across the world by four-fold over the next year, so you will need to be obsessed with driving sales and eager to find new challenges and opportunities for future growth.

You will play an active role in uncovering new business opportunities and building key relationships. Based in London but focused primarily on the international market, you'll be responsible for the full pipeline of prospect schools and corporates for your assigned regions - starting with identifying and researching the prospects to target, conducting meetings and presentations and hopefully closing those deals. You will also be heavily involved in conducting market research and understanding the trends in the character education space worldwide.

We won't pretend that it'll be easy as the role is not for the faint hearted; joining a company when they are embarking on a scale-up phase is an incredible challenge, pushing well beyond the boundaries of natural growth cycles. You'll have to move quicker than feels comfortable, and you will need to be awesome at continually re-prioritising what must get done to keep Role Models growing year on year.

Reporting to the Head of Business Development, you will be:
  • Building and developing a continuous pipeline of prospects for your regions by:
  • Handling a steady flow of inbound leads
  • Researching and obtaining your own prospects through an extensive database of leads & contacts we have
  • Using your own outbound prospecting activity
  • Contacting potential leads via telephone and email Travelling to your assigned regions to meet potential and existing clients in person
    • Ensuring that sales processes are followed and internal systems are updated accordingly
    • Ensuring that your key clients are satisfied by supporting them in the run up to their courses and communicating their needs effectively to the Operations & Education teams
    • Collaborating across teams to better focus client-facing efforts, taking initiative to identify issues and finding solutions
    • Helping to build and deliver compelling presentations, pitches and sales materials
    • Actively contributing to our sales & marketing strategy and plans

    Traits we're looking for
    • Has 3-5 years experience and is passionate about sales and business development
    • Is confident at prospecting and cold calling new customers to book meetings and secure new business
    • Has experience in building up your own pipeline of prospects
    • A great communicator who easily connects with people, demonstrates natural interpersonal skills and has the ability to inspire confidence and rapport with clients and colleagues
    • Proactive, loves jumping on opportunities, is motivated by success in numbers, and driven to achieve targets
    • Process-driven and has solid skills in creating processes to ensure that a plan for success is always in place
    • Excellent time management and organisational skills. Balancing behaviours and activities are essential; prospecting, selling, and account management
    • Enjoys working autonomously and within a team - our team is small, so you will have to travel internationally on your own
    • Has plenty of persistence and resilience. The sales cycle can range from small, medium, and long term wins. You will need to gently and respectfully but determinedly pursue and nurture prospects until it is clear whether they want to collaborate or not
    • Empathy to understand prospects' perspectives
    • Positive mindset and curiosity - taking responsibility for your results, learning and challenging
    • A fun and friendly team player - we were recently voted as one of the Top 100 Companies to escape to in 2019 so it is critical we keep hiring as we have been!
    • Happy to get your hands dirty supporting the business wherever needed including battling with the printer if required
    • Computer literate and able to manage basic software comfortably
    • Ideally passionate about character education
