Consultant Ophthalmologist - Subspecialty Interest in Primary Care and Emergency Ophthalmology

The Ophthalmology Services within the MSB Group are under one management structure serving a population of 1.3 million.

As part of the MSE, the Essex-wide Ophthalmology Steering Group is focussed on improving pathways and introducing new ways of working to shape the future of the service provision to the population of Essex. This gives an exciting opportunity to join our team and work across the region to develop sub-specialist interests as well as excellent research opportunities due to the large patient numbers within the service.

The existing ophthalmology services, led by 16 Consultants, provide a comprehensive range of ophthalmology services including Glaucoma, Cornea, VR, MR, Paediatrics and Oculo-plastics supported by a range of specialist trainees, specialty doctors, fellows and allied health professionals.

Links to Anglia Ruskin University provide the medical workforce with a unique opportunity to participate in medical faculty academic activities in a rapidly developing academic environment.

Our excellent Postgraduate Medical Centres carry a full programme of events and offer access to Medical Library's.

Applicants are invited to apply for Consultant Ophthalmologist - Subspecialty Interest in Primary Care and Emergency Ophthalmology and are required to commence as soon as possible. The post holder will be responsible to lead and modernise a busy eye casualty and primary eye care service across MSE and optimise these in conjunction with community eye care services The post includes 1 scheduled theatre list and 1 laser list but this will also depend on the successful candidate's preferences.
