My client based in Stevenage is looking for a Finance Project Manager to join their team on a full time permanent bases.

The role will represent the Finance department on a multitude of business wide and./or Finance-only projects and be a key support to the UK Financial Controller in terms of carrying out detailed analysis and procedures to ensure that the internal control environment of the rapidly changing UK business is fit for purpose and documented thoroughly and adhered to and escalate as necessary. Specific work will be required to assess the financial and Finance department impacts of all project related activities and to Project Manage or assist with specific standalone Finance related projects and new activities.

Job description

§ Provide support to the UK Financial Controller on all project related work and in particular to provide sound commercial input to the process as required, thereby contributing to decision making and thereby ensuring that the UK businesses have the financial direction necessary to meet business aims.

§ Lead small Finance Department projects as appropriate.

§ Finance process mapping and documentation.

§ Liaison with the Projects Office, and project managers and owners of projects, to assess the impact of these projects on the financial environment and systems and that appropriate actions are taken to ensure that projects take such matters into account.

§ Developing and driving improvements in UK financial and business systems and procedures in line with business requirements (working closely with IT colleagues to achieve this).

§ To undertake any other duties and projects at the request of the line manager.

§ To comply with data protection legislation and act responsibly on matters of data disclosure both internally and to third parties.

Essential Criteria:
  • The successful candidate will have extensive experience and knowledge of accounting systems and processes and experience of managing and supporting financial systems.
  • It will suit a qualified accountant (professional exams or qualified by experience. It may also be suit a part qualified accountant who is working towards obtaining a professional accountancy qualification and has an interest in the systems and controls aspects of Finance.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • A commercial outlook with strong technical expertise encompassing all aspects of accounting and control.
  • Significant experience and knowledge of financial management specifically in the following areas:
    • Identification of and implementation of Internal Control procedures
    • Process mapping and documentation
  • Experience of working on projects
  • Excellent data analysis skills including strong Excel skills
  • Experience of compiling written reports for review by Senior Management
  • A Basic Disclosure check, which will be conducted at the start of employment and then every two years
