Your role
By combining your transaction and accounting/audit skillsets you could find yourself helping businesses prepare and execute transactions, by working on IPOs, Class 1 transactions, bond issuances or private M&A deals.

In your first year, you will typically divide your time between servicing audit clients and delivering transactions. We expect the focus on transaction work to increase after the first year, as you build your credentials.

From a transactions perspective, you will have the opportunity to work directly with owners, management and key advisers on live transactions. For example, you be part of a reporting accountant team on a transaction which may include assisting on the Financial Position and Prospectus Procedures ("FPPP") and Historical Financial Information ("HFI") work streams. You may work on due diligence projects, IPO readiness transactions or bond issues. You will work with colleagues across the business, and potentially with other Deloitte firms outside of the UK, drawing on expertise from the wider Deloitte network in delivering a range of services on client transactions.

From an audit perspective, you will have the opportunity to work directly with companies and owners at different points of the business life-cycle. You will build relationships with C-suite executives and business owners, meaning you will develop a broad, commercial skill set, positioning you as a 'trusted advisor'.

You will be responsible for:

•Project managing work-streams within broader transaction project teams to ensure that key deliverables and client deadlines are met
•Managing the service delivery for one or two audit clients, depending on size
•Managing the delivery of transactions, including investing in and developing the junior team
•Ensuring all regulatory changes are implemented and complied with both internally and on client engagements
•Researching technical accounting and regulatory issues to enable the team to reach a solution
•Managing diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution
•Delivering commercial, accounting and control based insight to our clients on both projects and audits
•Supporting business development activity in the transaction space.

Your professional experience

You will have:

•ACA/ACCA qualification (or equivalent)
•Working knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP
•In-depth understanding of financial reporting and controls
•A track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders
•Experience managing a team and interacting with multiple stakeholders outside of your core team
•An ability to advise and implement solutions to address changes in regulatory requirements
•The ability to work independently and in different environments
•Effective presentation skills and business writing capability
•An understanding of an IPO/Transaction process is preferable
