The Out of Hours department is responsible for the provision of high quality Out of Hours General Medical Services across Dumfries and Galloway. The department employs GPs, Registered Nurses and non medical staff. We are looking for someone to efficiently communicate and co-ordinate all professional and patient calls and contacts received into the Out of Hours Service Hub requiring the attention of a clinician. You will be responsible in co-ordinating the deployment of available staff including support staff and duty clinicians.

This post will be working evening an overnight including weekends. You must have a flexible approach to this role as you may be requested at short notice to undertake vacant shifts due to unplanned absences.

All shifts occur during the out of hours period when GP Practices are closed from 6pm â€" 8am . These include Public Holidays and any agreed Practice Closure, e.g. Practice Training events. The Communication Co-ordinator shift will commence at 5.15pm on a weekday and 8am on a weekend with various patterns during these period.

You should be able to demonstrate that you can work well within in a team. Attention to detail is key and you should have good telephone etiquette as well as good communication and listening skills. Full training will be provided between the hours of 8am â€" 5pm Monday to Friday prior to commencing any shifts unsupervised on the use of our IT programme which is called ADSTRA System therefore keyboard skills are also essential.
