BSL Teaching Assistant

West London

ASAP Start

Time Plan Education are pleased to be working with a mainstream secondary in West London. They are recruiting a TA with BSL level 3 qualification as a minimum. The shortlisted candidate will work within the Hearing-Impaired Unit. This is an ongoing full-time position.

This outstanding multi-cultural school caters for a diverse group of 11-19-year olds, providing encouragement and a positive learning environment.

The school requires a skilled individual who has worked with children or young adults with a hearing impairment, ideally this would be within a school or college setting. The Unit has 8 students who work between the unit and mainstream classes. You will be required to support exchange and communication within the classroom, while also providing academic and emotional support. Experience with specialist resources, technology and learning materials is desirable. Each student has an individual support package and you will work with the head of the unit to make sure the student is properly supported and make any changes if needed.

In return the school can offer a forward thinking and stable working environment.

To apply for this role, you will need to have:
  • References available from a school or college setting
  • Minimum of Level 3 in BSL
  • A current DBS
  • Be able to commit to a long-term role full time

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. You will be required to apply for an Enhanced DBS if your current DBS is not on the update service.
