Salary Range: NHS Terms and conditions Band 7 £38,890-£44,503 pa (pro rata for part time)
Hours: 15 hours per week
Contract: 10 month fixed term contract or secondment

Band 7 Specialist Nurse â€" Cancer Screening Lead â€" Hosted by HCC Community Learning Disability Nursing service

We have an opportunity for a Band 7 Specialist Nurse to work within the Health Liaison Team, based in Apsley. This is an exciting opportunity to work across all GP practices in HVCCG on a project to improve cancer screening uptake in people with a learning disability. The post is fixed term post and the successful applicant will need to plan, develop and deliver a programme that effectively increases cancer screening uptake, with an initial focus primarily on Cervical screening.

The successful candidate will need to be able to work effectively with health professionals across the primary health setting to skill them up to maintain the screening uptake level beyond this project. They will also need to work effectively and sensitively with people with a learning disability and those that support them, to educate and support them, with an individual person centred approach, in attending their cancer screening. You will need to write quarterly reports and present the outcomes and projections to stakeholders. You will participate in setting and delivering high standards of care, demonstrating the ability to take the lead in the cancer screening aspects of this health promotion work for the CLDN service.

You will be working within the Health Liaison Team, supervised by the Strategic Liaison nurse for primary health. This post is CCG funded so you will also be working in conjunction with the CCG to ensure service delivery meets stakeholder expectations. Due to the nature of the role the successful candidate will need a Full Driving Licence. It is desirable that Applicants are registered as a learning Disability Nurse with a valid NMC registration and have at least 12 months experience as a Community Learning Disability Nurse. However, nurses from other branches of nursing, who can demonstrate expertise, experience and a passion for enabling equitable health for people with learning disabilities will be considered.

In your application you must demonstrate your knowledge and experience in bridging the health inequality gap for people with learning disabilities and use examples that show you have the skills and knowledge as outlined in the attached Job Profile.
