LEARNING MENTOR - FRACTIONAL

Hours: 28 Hours per week (40 weeks per year)

Salary: £21,469 - £24,706 per annum pro-rata

The Inclusive Learning Service at Leeds College of Building is currently looking to appoint a Learning Mentor to work with students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities who require extra help to realise their potential. The role is varied and challenging and will include:

  • Using a range of targeted interventions and coaching strategies to help students enjoy, achieve and progress at College
  • Supporting the development of study and personal organisation skills in the context of SEND
  • Assessing students’ needs using person-centred conversations and following the Assess Plan Do Review cycle
  • Supporting tutors to develop and provide reasonable adjustments for their students
  • Promoting and developing inclusive and person-centred practice across the college
  • Representing the ILS team and helping to promote support strategies across college


Ideally you will have experience of working with students who experience barriers to learning in a post 16 setting. You will have a good understanding of the principles of inclusion and be committed to providing personalised support in partnership with other educational professionals and agencies. Experience of working with young people with social, emotional and mental health difficulties or who have EHCPs would be an advantage.

It is essential that you possess Level 3 qualifications in English or Maths.
