Learning Services Assistant

West Suffolk College, Bury St Edmunds

Permanent â€" Term Time only â€" 23 hours per week / 39 weeks per year

SALARY: £16,786 - £17,922 FTE (pro-rata) dependant on experience

An exciting part-time opportunity has become available to join our excellent library team. The team is looking for a friendly face to provide front line services within the library.

The successful candidate will be dealing with enquiries from students and staff across the college. As part of the library team, evening and weekend work is required and the successful applicant will work the following hours-

Wednesday 09:00-17:00, Thursday 13:00-19:00 and Friday 10:30-17:00.

Due to COVID-19 we are currently operating on altered library hours so someone with a flexible working approach is desirable.

Role Responsibilities
  • Assist with the Administration of the online / digital presence of Learning Services
  • Contribute to the provision of learning support for students
  • Providing support for individuals and small groups working within the Library.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the Library as part of the team
  • Undertake other duties commensurate with the grade of the post as required by the line manager.

Required qualifications, skills and experience
  • Experience of working in a customer-oriented environment.
  • Experience of Library Management Systems is desirable
  • Experience of working within a further education environment or experience of working in a role that supports the learning of students.
  • Good IT Skills and willingness to learn
  • The ability to work as part of a team
