CFYP Norfolk & Waveney Eating Disorders Service

We are looking for a Specialty Doctor to join our Norfolk and Waveney Community Eating Disorder Services, a part of our award winning Children and Young People’s (CFYP) Service.

The Norfolk & Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust’s unique CFYP service aspires to address the issues raised by the children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing task force. Over the past 12 months CFYP has seen the expansion and growth in existing and new services such as Perinatal Community Mental Health and we were recently awarded £3 million to develop the Mother and Baby Unit (opened in January 2019), one of three in the country commissioned by NHS England.

We are looking for a Specialty Doctor to join our innovative Community Eating Disorder (CED) Services to work with us to deliver high quality care for our communities. The CED service line has bases in 3 different localities across the county, two of which are CAMHS services and one all age service. The successful candidate will be based primarily in CAMHS ED service (CEN CAEDS) in Norwich.

The Eating Disorders (ED) teams were expanded from the Local Transformation Plan (LTP) monies in 2015 and meet the national access and waiting time standards. The services have good links with the local paediatric and gastroenterology services in Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Trust and James Paget University Hospital NHS Trust; and transition protocols with the Norfolk Adult Community Eating Disorder Service. The ED teams have been involved in training and upskilling staff in implementing the Junior and Adult MARSIPAN guidelines.

We are developing Eating Disorders Pathways between our local CAMHS Inpatient Facility (Dragonfly Unit) which is rated “outstanding” by CQCas well as our new Mother and Baby Unit. Such liaison demonstrates the value of ED expertise as a particular sub-speciality as well as providing the potential to arrest inter-generational ED propagation.

We work closely with the New Care Models clinical design groups to deliver high quality care to patients and carers. Training or supervision is available to support the delivery of FT-AN, FREED and MANTRA.

Top reasons to work as a psychiatrist in Norfolk and Waveney:
  • We support training and study time (incl. achieving article 14 and RC/AC status along with costs associated)
  • Protected time of 2.5 SPA per week
  • Generous relocation / removal benefit

The Trust is located in the East of England with the Broads National Park, miles of beautiful coastline and the medieval city of Norwich supported by rail links and an international airport. The area offers some of the best value for housing and an excellent standard of living with good schools and a top ranking University in UEA.
