The British Psychological Society is a registered charity, which acts as the representative body for psychology and psychologists in the UK, and is responsible for the promotion of excellence and ethical practice in the science, education, and application of the discipline. As a society, we support and enhance the development and application of psychology for the greater public good, setting high standards for research, education, and knowledge, and disseminating our knowledge to increase public awareness.

The role of Professional Development Lead will lead the development of the Society’s professional development portfolio through identifying a need in the market, assessing the need and preparing the business case for development of CPD and Qualifications. This role is based in Leicester (currently home working due to the Covid-19 pandemic) within the Professional Development, Delivery and Assessment department.

Key responsibilities of the role are;
  • To establish and implement an end-to-end process and product life cycle for new product development
  • To build and write business cases for development of new products and seek approval and sign off from the Professional Development Manager and senior management;
  • To identify subject matter experts and stakeholders relevant to the development process of a new product and bring them on board to participate in the development process
  • To prepare project plans and manage the development process to ensure that products are developed within the set timeframe and to budget
  • To ensure that each new product is supported by the appropriate level of training documentation which can be hosted on the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

You will have;
  • A relevant degree level qualification or equivalent relevant knowledge and skills
  • Experience of working in a membership organisation or the Higher Education Sector
  • A successful track record of developing in-depth knowledge of products and services to market and delivering associated promotional and marketing activities
  • Proven track record of managing projects to successful completion within time and budget constraints
