Main Purpose of Post

Engage, motivate and deliver high quality structured Accredited and Non-Accredited Interventions to services users in the CRC and NPS. Supporting positive change through group work and effective one to one interventions. Sharing timely quality information about engagement, risk and progress to Responsible Officers in the NPS and CRC. Ensuring maximum compliance, engagement and outcomes for service users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively engage with service users with the aim of sustained rehabilitation through delivery of 1:1 and group interventions
  • Share quality information via the case management system on progress, engagement and skills learnt through Interventions delivery
  • Comply with and contribute to children and adult safeguarding duties promoting the welfare of children and adults and alerting relevant colleagues and stakeholders in a timely way should any risk be identified
  • Share information with Responsible Officers that supports actively managing risk and take responsibility for recognising when risks need to be escalated and action taken
  • Developing a multi-skilled approach to work in several distinct areas including working with women service users, young adults in transition, learning difficulties, BAME and “Through the Gate”
  • Engage with mentors to support delivery of Interventions
  • Demonstrate reflective and quality of practice improvement through Treatment Management and Observations of practice
  • Engage in quality assurance and continuous improvement of self and peers in delivery of Non-Accredited and Accredited Programmes
  • You will be expected to work up to a maximum of 4 nights per week no later than 22:30 and/or weekends to meet the exigencies of the service
  • Perform other duties commensurate with the post as determined by management in line with Service User requirements

Operational Planning and Management

Interchange Model

Interact (Assess-sentence plan-implement-review and evaluate-enforcement and referral)
  • Support Assessment through Review, and Evaluation of progress on Accredited and Non-Accredited Programmes
  • Deliver and Assess suitability for programmes

Plan and commission services to enable change
  • Maintain clear and timely record-keeping on the Case Management System
  • Monitor progress via timely expected completions of Interventions
  • Where necessary support commencement of prompt enforcement action

Intervene (Interventions used to support change and deliver the sentence)
  • Refer and signpost service users to relevant support services with Responsible Officers where this supports compliance and engagement with Interventions
  • Identify and utilise relevant services for protected characteristic groups

Integrate (Activities designed to engage Service Users with their community and access its resources)
  • Participate in multi-agency forums where this supports risk management, public protection and integration
  • Ensure that consolidation of learning (post programme reports) from Interventions delivered incorporates and considers how networks facilitate positive change
  • Signpost service users to community services where this supports delivery of Interventions focussed on community engagement

Delivery of Accredited and Non-Accredited Programmes
  • Deliver/co-deliver accredited and non-accredited to meet Correctional Services Accreditation and Advisory Panel (CSAAP) requirements
  • Participates in continuous improvement activity of Non-Accredited Programmes to support changes to programme content and delivery methods
  • Engages service users as mentors in delivery of group work where appropriate

Finance and Commercial
  • Ensure performance metrics are achieved through the recording of information in a timely manner, in line with practice guidance and through working as a member of the Flex Team to proactively understand and ensure that performance and quality standards are met.

Decision Making
  • Use professional judgement whilst exercising all case management duties and assessing and managing risk, escalating appropriately, with auditable evidence in place, including contributing and supplying information for the court.

  • Demonstrate collaborative working with NPS and CRC Responsible Officers
  • Foster a positive working relationship with local partnerships, suppliers of interventions and other community resources
  • Demonstrate collaborative working with local courts where this support sharing of information about local Interventions
  • Provide agencies with relevant service user information where appropriate to support risk management and arrangements for addressing non-compliance.
  • Collaborate with National Probation Service and others to resolve problems and improve ways of working
  • Undertake peer reviews as part of quality assurance QA role.

Professional Qualifications, Education and Training

  • Commitment to undertake VQ3 Diploma in Probation Practice or equivalent
  • GCSE’s English and Maths at grade C or equivalent

  • Two ‘A’ Level qualifications (C or above) or equivalent
