Trainee Neighbourhood Officer for Cheltenham Borough Council

£22,183-£24,982 per annum

12 months fixed term contract- 37 hours per week

About the role…

We have an exciting opportunity in our Neighbourhoods Team at Cheltenham Borough Council for someone looking to start a rewarding career in community safety. You will be joining a small but fast evolving team in the heart of the Cotswolds with flexible working arrangements.

Your role within the team is to assist in ensuring a safe and clean environment for the community by taking action accordingly to prevent, reduce and investigate all aspects of anti-social behaviour, environmental crime and other contraventions (e.g. relating to licensing and other legislation).

We are looking for individuals who can use their initiative when identifying appropriate action, communicate in a friendly but assertive manner and work effectively within a team.

To be successful you will need…
  • GCSEs (5 Level 9-4 or equivalent, including Maths and English) or relevant work experience
  • A level NVQ3, or BTEC relevant professional qualification (Office/ Admin e.g. CLAIT) (relevant experience can be considered as an alternative)
  • Experience of dealing with complaints and/or complex investigations
  • Experience in a customer and public facing role
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and to use discretion and make informed judgements.
