MMP Consultancy are working with a fantastic organisation based in South London who are looking to recruit a Housing Officer to join them on a temporary basis.

The client is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic housing officer to join the team. The role would involve carrying out site visits in order to do estate inspections and fire compliance checks, dealing with tenant queries and issues and working with the team and other colleagues to ensure an excellent service is delivered t residents. The ideal candidate should have experience of dealing with complex anti-social behaviour cases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To be directly responsible for a defined multi-tenure patch providing an effective housing management service
  • Be responsible for keeping accurate records on the housing management services relating to the role.
  • Be responsible for the management of void properties, including void inspections, organising and attending evictions, assessing nominations, sign ups, successful benefit applications, settling in visits, completion of relevant paperwork and working closely with the Housing Administrator and Income Recovery Officer
  • Assist with the delivery of any growth plans such as new build and sock transfers
  • Manage a patch that includes different tenures and tenancies. Including social and affordable rents, starter, and fixed tenancies.
  • Ensuring close liaison with the Income Recovery Officer, providing assistance when required on rent collection and arrears management
  • Deal effectively with reports of anti-social behaviour

Key Knowledge & Experience:

Essential:
  • Experience of working in housing or social care environment
  • Knowledge of the issues that affect social housing
  • Understanding of allocation and void processes
  • Understanding of implementing good housing management and estate management practices including health and safety compliance
  • Understanding the different tenures and rent models that exist
  • Knowledge of housing fraud, legislation, investigation, and partnership working
  • General understanding of rent arears processes and legal processes for all tenancy reaches
  • Understanding of resident involvement
  • Holds a full UK driving licence

Desirable:
  • Excellent standard of numeracy and literacy
  • Able to present information clearly, systematically, and accurately
  • Ability to use own initiative and communicate decisions
  • Be able to teach and train others effectively
